Senior Citizens Inc. of Delaware County was started in 1963 by Nancy Frankenburg, John Werkman, and Laura Wagner. Its first home was 201/2 East Winter Street for weekly meetings. In 1969 it moved to 8 East Winter Street. Its second move was to 38 South Franklin Street. Then in 1987 the organization purchased a building at 420 Park Avenue, which is still a meal site for congregate meals. The most recent move was made on December 5, 2007, to the Center for Older Adults at 800 Cheshire Road. The membership has grown from 700 at the facility on Park Avenue to over 2,800 at the Cheshire Road facility. The center now offers an average of 225 programs per month.
