Delaware County History Project

Wednesday, November 3, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM.

Mark Stickle will be at the Center to share his dissertation on the impact of mortgage credit in rural Ohio during the 1830s and 1840s. Mark is looking at this from both an economic and a social perspective, viewing it as a revolutionary force that played a major role in transforming communities and families. His work is centered on loans granted by the Ohio Life Insurance and Trust Company. The Company operated through agents located throughout the state. Mark found that the Trust Company made about 25 loans in Delaware County in 1835 and 1836. He will bring a list of these loans with him as he shares his dissertation with us. Come and find out who these families are!

Location: Radebaugh Room at Delaware Senior Center
